I must say that after a few weeks of moderate use, I prefer the Arizer. It's easier to clean, has way less draw resistance, and seems to produce a cleaner vapour with less product.
I haven't played around with the heat settings too much but 4 seems to work, but does result in coughing if the vapour is held in.
I bought the small hard case so damage to the glass stem isn't a worry and I haven't had any troubles with that yet.
While less discrete than the Pax, it is still easily portable and is comfortable to hold and use.
I have no complaints and would recommend this to anyone who asked!
However, the one problem that some people might have is portability. Unlike the PAX or MFLB - the Solo has a glass stem that you pack with the material you are vaping before you insert it into the Solo. Imagine sticking a straw into the 2/3 size Red Bull can.
I've said it before but this is a brilliant portable vape both well constructed, portable and easy-to use. Almost the only vape you'll ever need...
I’ve got to say, Max was right, the device heats up quick, temperature control is accurate and easy, you can get 4-6 full 12 minute cycles out of a charge OR just plug it in and run endlessly… all while getting great vapor. Zero regrets buying this, all my friends and I love it and it is a great social way to vaporise our herbs. It is a little chunky but it’s made of solid aluminium so it’s rugged.
A tip, I installed small screens (Brought from here) inside the bowls on the glass mouth tubes to stop the finer material making its way into your mouth and I’ve had ZERO problems
That said, you cannot beat the Solo on performance.
The annoying glass stem is a massive plus for flavour (and the ceramic heating element too) - a cardinal rule of good vaping is that no plastic may touch your vapour (really, only glass, ceramics and food-grade silicone are acceptable, and I don't like silicone because it can get a smell to it after use)
But the biggest ace up the Solo's sleeve is its efficiency (as in, the amount of product used to achieve a certain level of aromatherapy). I've used a Pinnacle Pro, a Whispr 2 and a Pax, and the Solo beats them hands down in terms of conserving your product. Its oven is tiny compared to the other three I've tried, but it seems to be the most efficient at getting stuff done because that tiny oven packs some serious punch.
You do need to get the Solo drawing technique down, but that's true of every vapouriser, and this one isn't too onerous.
BUT, one massive strike against this thing: where is the next generation? The thing needs a fundamental redesign to make it smaller and more portable - while not sacrificing the flavour and efficiency (listen up, Pax).
Still, it's the best portable out there (for now, but that redesign better come soon).
The amount packed into one pipe is perfect for even heating and means I use less material. I also find the effect cleaner and more temperature specific than units with larger compartments. Vapour quality surpasses the Volcano and Arizer Q that I used to use frequently.
Battery life is very good, and there is a good range of accessories and availability of parts.
I was very impressed that AusVapes include a proper Australian power supply rather than just a plug adapter. And I can easily say that the online customer experience has been the best of any product I have bought online - which is a big statement! I hardly ever write reviews, but things like the ease of product research and ordering, next day delivery interstate, prices comparable to (or cheaper than) buying from O/S on eBay, honest advice and feedback, and exceptional after-sales service, meant I just want to say well done and thanks!
Definitely get the VapeCase to go with it.
1. vapour pathway through glass which gives it great taste
2. convection, so very efficient
1. slow extraction time, means your gonna have multiple 12 minute sessions to get to where you want to be
2. glass stem means that you cannot confidently transport it and bit bulky with the stem. Also you have no stealth with this unit, it will attract attention in public!
3. At higher temperatures, typically for me 6 and 7, the vapour is quite harsh and can irritate the throat
5. draw resistance - as they say, it is like sipping a thick milkshake, and it is true, you have to draw very slowly and make sure that you have a seal between the stem and the heating element, otherwise you getting wispy vapour.
tip: vape this unit with the bent stem, upside down, that way your material will not touch the heating element and will vape the material much more evenly!
