Q. How does it work?
It's easy -- simply grind your clean herbal material to a fine consistency using a regular grinder. Slide the lid to one side and sprinkle your material into the bowl. Close the lid, firmly press a freshly charged battery into the Box, and start enjoying your vapor. After each hit, withdraw the battery, and shake the Box to stir the material inside -- this ensures that the Box is always fresh and ready when you need it. Repeat as needed.
The stored electrical energy in the battery is carried to a heating element in the bowl of the Box which gently warms your herbals. The Box provides just enough heat to release the active ingredients as a vapor without causing combustion to occur.
Vaporization (avoiding combustion) is good for a number of reasons:
- More medicinal qualities are available because they are not being consumed by fire -- vaporization is more efficient.
- There are little to no harmful combustion byproducts (NO tar, carbon/nitrogen monoxides, free radicals, particulates/soot, etc).
- Vaporization is overall much healthier for you and a LOT easier on the lungs -- no more unnecessary coughing.
- The fine qualities and taste of your herbals are fully available without being obscured by the noxious byproducts of burning.
Q. What is this thing made out of? Is it safe?
The following materials are used in the construction of the Box: Select birch hardwood, Stainless steel screen (the same material used in high-end cookware), copper plated steel rods, Acrylic (Plexi-glass) cover, and a stainless steel spring clip (for the cover). There is no solder (no lead) used in the screen bonding. The added/optional draw pipe accessories (not necessary to use the Box) are also made of Acrylic.
There are no hazardous materials used anywhere in the Box, so yes, the Box is safe. None of these components or materials ever get hot enough to be of any concern.
Q. How durable is the Box? Is the screen replaceable?
Overall, the Box is very durable (can be dropped without harm, etc). Occasionally people break the lid off when the Box is open (don't hold the box by the lid), or by dropping it on an especially hard surface. The Box is designed to withstand side to side shaking as part of the normal technique of usage.
The only part which is delicate is the internal screen which is very thin -- use only the provided brush as a tool in direct contact with the screen. The screen itself is not replaceable.
Q. What temp is the screen? How do you control the temperature?
The Box is usually calibrated to be at 193°C / 380°F four seconds after the moment the Box is started, assuming a fairly slow constant draw rate and average environmental conditions.
The temperature in the device is controlled by the draw rate (ie, breath control). Like with the wind, faster tends to mean cooler. To get higher temperatures in the load, you need to draw very slowly. By drawing directly from the Box (ie, using the Box in the 'native' mode), you will also be able to sense the temperature of the vapor stream as well as the taste (this is the recommended practice). Also, the battery is left in only for the duration of the hit, (or if taking multiple hits in quick succession, for as long as the load lasts). The Box user MUST remember to retract or remove the battery when you are finished taking a hit, otherwise the load will get too hot.
Q. Does the screen get dirty?
No, generally not. By acting as an emission surface, it rarly collects any sort of residue, even after long term usage.
Q. Can you use the box with resinous materials or liquids?
Not really. It is possible, though not recommended, as any sort of direct resin contact with the screen tends to discolor and clog it, potentially permanently impairing Box function. Residue from resin usage can be very difficult to clean.
Q. How many loads will a battery last for?
The simplest and easiest way is to figure that one battery will support (roughly) one load. One load will provide between 4 to 8 hits, depending on your usage/taste preferences. Some people will be able to get more than this (2 or 3 loads) or more hits per load (up to 12), but we recommend keeping more charged batteries on hand than you think you may need.
For example, let's say you are calculating how many batteries you will need on a camping trip. A conservative estimate would be to figure that one Box filling will be sufficient for one person and will require one charged battery. Therefore, if you had two people who wanted to use the same Box twice a day for two days, that would be 8 Box loads and therefore 8 charged batteries.
Q. How many times will the batteries recharge?
The provided batteries, if treated well (not overheated) can be expected to support 500 recharge cycles. Therefore, even a heavy user who works the Box several times a day can expect the rechargeable batteries to last quite a long time (think months, if not years). Although we do not make the batteries, we have found them to be very reliable over the long term.
Q. How much material goes in the Box in one load?
Each filling will take between 50 to 100 milligrams of material (depending on the herb, appx. 1/4 of a teaspoon).
We recommend that you add ground, unpacked material until it is level with the groove (but do not fill the chamber), even if this may be more than you would normally need. Because the Box is able to heat up nearly instantly (no waiting), it is convenient to use. Because the Box is also able to cool off again nearly instantly, it does not waste any material either. The Box only requires battery power when you are actually hitting on it.
Instant on and instant off heating means you can control exactly when doses are delivered with the Box. Vapor is dispensed only when you want it -- which means no wasted vapors (more efficient). When not in use, the Box simply stores your loaded material unchanged. This is very different than most other vape units which must cook the entire load to completion once they have been started.
By filling to level, you will be getting more overall vapor per charged battery. Each charged battery will provide the same heating in the Box whether it is fully loaded or empty. Therefore, any part of the unit which is hot but not loaded wastes heat and battery charge. You may as well load it fully and get the full benefit of the battery energy. Also, under filling the Box can result in lower vapor density (the ratio of vapor to air).
Q. How thick/airy are the hits?
Done properly, you get a constant vapor supply. The draw rate needs to be slow for this -- think of sipping from a teacup. If you pull too fast, it will get more airy. The taste is an immediate feedback and a good guide.
Q. How completely does it vape? How good is the taste?
The overall level of cooking is mostly defined by how long you use it -- how many hits you take. You can get just about any type of final output you want. It is possible, for example, to bring the load to an even dark chocolate brown if you want to, although the taste towards the end may not be the best. Normally, we expect a single loading to provide between 4 and 8 hits, each of around 20 seconds in length. The key is to tap or shake the box to stir the load from time to time -- this ensures even and consistent results.
Throughout the process, the ultimate taste is dependent on technique. Good usage technique with the Box consists of two aspects: control of the heating process and stirring of the material. Good taste begins by ensuring that the battery is only fully in the Box during a hit, and by controlling the draw rate. From the time that you put the battery fully in until you begin drawing should be fairly short -- less than 5 seconds. To run the Box cooler (better taste), try drawing a little more quickly and do not wait as long before beginning your draw. To get more or denser vapor, draw more slowly or wait a little longer. The correct timing and draw rate -- not too fast nor too slow -- is something learned in time. When you complete the draw, be sure to pull the battery out a bit right away so that the Box does not continue needlessly heating (otherwise the load will get too hot and the taste will be changed).
Don't forget to shake! It's helpful to look through the cover to see that the stir is actually happening -- sometimes bits stick together and do not mix as much as needed. Taste is improved by ensuring an even mixing by shaking the Box between hits.
Q. Can the Box be used in groups?
Yes, especially if you have a few extra charged batteries.
If you are passing the Box, ensure that under no circumstances will the battery ever be in the Box when no one is drawing on it for more than about 3 seconds. This requires the Box owner to ensure that each person in a group applies and withdraws the battery individually BEFORE letting them pass the Box around hot. The Box truly is ultra fast -- this needs to be accounted for in group usage.
The Magic-Flight Launch Box uses a single peeled AA rechargeable NiMh battery (2000mAh or higher) and is shipped with a compact battery charger and extra battery.
**** Warning: alkaline or any other battery chemistry will not work with the Box. You MUST use NiMH type rechargeable batteries.
Rechargeable batteries must be fully charged before use and may be left in the provided charger between sessions. A single fully charged battery can be expected to provide enough power for 5 minutes of drawable vapor.

i showed my magic flight to the hospital in mackay here and now they are very interested in it for cancer patients n terminally ill ppl .
i am more kinds on magic flight and i also use a mix of herb which i bought from u guys a very old ancient herb used world wide by natives called Fever few. im alot better as a person i no longer am on severe drugs for pain i have cut down on steroids
i eat a little more but so what.

Couldn't be happier with this site, i bought it and i think it was delivered the next day. I got it delivered to work and it was pretty discrete.
Since getting it I have smoked in a packed cinema, at the zoo, at a cafe... pretty much everywhere - the thing is fucking incognito!
I also bought all the extras - don't worry about any except maybe some spare batteries - you dont want to be waiting for batteries to charge.

Ease-of-Use Value Quality this is my first purchase of a vaporizer and I'm pleased with my choice. I 've used a vape at a friends place in the past but never this one so I was not sure how it would work out. I did a lot of research about portable vapes and decided to go with the MFLB for its portability and ease of use, I'm pretty happy with it, I wish I'd taken to vaporizers years ago. The only thing I would like is an electric power attachment, which I've read is available in the USA, I hope that Australian vaporizers import that for sale here,as the batteries are OK, though after only having mine for a month or so I notice one of my batteries does not seem to work as well as the other. The battery charger I received seems OK, it seems to charge the batteries good, though the USA to Australian power converter broke in the first week of use.
All in all I would recommend this product to anyone that is moving from combustion to vaping, I no longer have a tight chest and I don't cough up garbage.
I'd also like to mention the service I got from Australian vaporizers was second to none, I received the MFLB within a couple of days of depositing the money into their account, they have provided very good service,and I intend to do more business with them in the future.

First time vaper. Wasn't sure what to expect, essential oils are released without the overtones of smoke for a much smoother whiff with a pure taste.
Must inhale *very* slow and constant for a good hit, but easy to get a *big hit* with lots of tasty vapor.

Ease-of-Use Value Quality Well the vape. Its quality is MUCH better then i expected. The wood is worked well, sanding, finish not cracked or discoloured in anyway, the acrylic top and stem feel like good quality and the top is also finished well.
The tin is MUCH smaller then i expected. The package was large though as it was packed very well. The tin is not much bigger then my hand. The MFLB itself is smaller then my index and middle finger together. (Think a rectangle covering your 2 fingers) When i saw it i thought it may be too small. However it is the perfect size.
It is VERY easy to use. Perhaps too easy. In combination to this the trench holds more of my aromatic herbs then i need (I think this is influenced by the fact I needed to use less then normal).
The two things together mean that it is very easy to use more then you need. It is also easy to load and hold in the hand.
The vapor that comes off the herbs is amazing. It is smooth like silk while still being quite thick, if you inhale slow enough. I have used a vapor genie many times before and this produces much nicer vapor. It is easier to use as well.
I even find the charger supplied to be good. I would like it to charge 4 batteries at once but perhaps this is to much to ask for a price this low.
Value is good. The quality is good and it looks as if it is completely made by people.
My only complaint is not at Aus Vape or the MFLB but Australian Air Express. They came to deliver my package looked at the gate and did not even try to open it. So i had to collect it from my local post office. Not a big deal and outside of the control of Aus Vape. (Posted on 8/07/11) -

Next - the Magic Flight itself, is compact and easy to use.
Have never tried vaping until getting my magic box. Will never go back to anything else... it's truly the best gadget for the hippie/hipster crowd.
It does go through battery power quickly, tho I use a Varta re-charger, which charges the batteries back to full in about 30 mins.
The Magic flight is great value for money, and it works just like it says it does. There's also some informative reviews on youtube that I've seen, which pretty much answer most 1st time user's questions. Many thanks ;0)

Ease-of-Use Value Quality Couldnt believe something that small would work well and/or last long, so i ordered two, thinking one would break or fail after a week. Within 1 week i got sick of my mate begging and gave one to him. 3 months later mine is still fine and so is his. I threw away my bong, this is all i need.
Anyone worried about loosing taste is wrong, i cant believe how well herbs taste through this little beauty.
Only down side is if you have a few mates over, at some point you are going to have to let go of it ( and im quite attached lol ) and 2 batteries are not enough. BUT being so awesome i have ordered a second one with an extra set of batteries, giving me 2 vaps ( MINE and one that im willing to pass around lol ) and 6 batteries which should be heaps.
Toss your bong, save the smell, the mess ( we have ALL knocked one over at some stage ) and get this.
ps, my mate claimed that the palm of his hand hurt a little from pushing battery in, turns out if he had stuck the supplied batt caps on the blunt end while using this isnt a problem either. (Posted on 17/06/11) -

The wooden box is deceptive, its way smaller than in the pics and its got great stealth, hell i smoked one at the beach with people near me, no one could barely see it and then i just hid it in my towel n went for a surf, its too easy. Plus i find the first few hits using the battery system puts out a sweet vapour stream, a strong hit. Theres something about pulling out the little wooden box, kinda feels adventurous , itd be an easy portable one to throw in your camping trip bags and head off down the coast with too. Value Quality Ease-of-Use Although it's less than half the price and a quarter the size of the more sophisticated Iolite, the Launch Box offers benefits the Iolite can't match.
It's much smaller and (preferably with the battery removed), more easily concealed in the palm of your hand. (Unless you're a pre-adolescent and probably female, in which case you shouldn't be using one of these things anyway.)
In situations where silence is golden, the Launch Box is an easy winner, because the Iolite hisses for a few seconds whenever the unit cools enough for the thermostat to engage the flameless ignition.
On the debit side, the Launch Box vaporises the herb somewhat unevenly, leaving a mix of green and dark brown remains. It's also a bit fiddly to use, and it's easy to forget to disconnect the battery between tokes. And there's no thermostatic control. The rechargeable batteries supplied also need recharging fairly often, taking well over an hour for a full charge.
In contrast, the Iolite is thermostatically controlled, it's quickly refilled with a butane canister that lasts for ages, it vaporises more evenly, resembles an elegant cell phone and fits comfortably in your hand. (Unless . . . etc.)
Conclusion: They complement one another. So, if you're undecided and flush with funds, buy one of each for different occasions.

Don't even bother with any of the others. The Magic Flight works in any environmental conditions except underwater. It is brilliantly simple, durable, small, stealthy, silent, odourless, fast, and super efficient. It can be in your palm as you yawn into your hand within a large crowd, tucked into your jacket in the wind and rain or sitting next to the goggles in your beach bag packed and ready to vape ! Within 5 seconds you are suitably respirated ! I give it a ten out of ten for design brilliance. Overall package from MFLB very good value for money.
Very impressive service from this site also. I ticked the add to cart box on Sunday night and was vaping on Monday night.

Ease-of-Use Value Quality When I first unboxed the Magic Flight Box, I was slightly disappointed. The box appeared to be so simple and cheap for the price. I have to say, though, two days later, I'm liking it much better. Since I'm getting used to it so quickly, I think in another day I will think it was a bargain.
The size is absolutely perfect. It fits nicely in my pocket and the tin it comes in is exactly the right size to keep everything in. It's extremely light and easy to hold for its size, even with my hands.
The rate it heats up at is wonderful. Almost no waiting time, and the results are almost instant. It should make it much easier for those who are impatient. I also like having an unlimited power source because it just runs of normal AA batteries and not some specialised expensive battery.
I haven't had it long enough to comment on the extended battery life. But I was honestly fine with the two batteries I got with box.
And my LUNGS! My word what a difference! I can practically run a marathon! I've been able to completely cut smoking out of my life. Combine herb saving with health benefits and it's an unbeatable combo.
The ONLY thing I would change if I could is to make an on/off button. I'm having a little trouble showing friends because they always forget to take the battery out. But they’re starting to get the hang of it.
All in all, I think they hit it out of the park with the Magic Flight Box!

- Hi Steve, we have never had any problems shipping to NZ, the product is marked as an aromatic inhalation device and has always gone through customs without a hitch.
