Wood Betony Organic - 20 grams
Botanical Name: Stachys officinalis
Plant Parts: Aerial parts
This herb is organically grown.
Betony is a part of the mint family of herbs and is thought to reduce pain and clear the mind. The name Betony is alleged to derive from the ancient Celtic words bew (head) and ton (good), an indication of its history as a remedy for headaches and migraines. Historically, the plant has been held in high regard. There was even a saying that someone "has as many virtues as Betony" and the herb was often used as protection from witchcraft and planted in churchyards to prevent activity from ghosts.
These days, modern herbalists prescribe betony to treat anxiety, gallstones, heart burn, high blood pressure, migraine and neuralgia. It is also used as a preventative for sweating and can be used as an ointment to treat abrasions. Not all of these uses are substantiated by scientific evidence.
Betony can be used in a smoking mix or prepared as a tea. To drink as a tea, simply brew 1 teaspoon in a cup of hot water.
