Blue Lotus Flower Tea - 20 grams

    Botanical Name: Nymphaea Caerulea

    Plant Parts: Flowers and tops

Commonly depicted in Ancient Egyptian art, the Blue Lotus (otherwise known as the Blue Waterlilly) is thought to have been used as a sacrament in  Ancient Egypt and some South American cultures. Its representation in Ancient Egyptian art is most commonly depicted in "party scenes", dancing, or in significant spiritual / magical rites such as the rite of passage into the afterlife. It was used by the Ancient Egyptians as a key to good health, sex and re-birth, and was consumed as an aphrodisiac for both men and women, as well as a remedy for general ill-health. It is said to have promoted feelings of well-being, euphoria and ecstacy.

It is believed that the plant was traditionally drank after being soaked in warm water or wine, while the dried flowers were often rolled and smoked in cigarettes. There's also speculation that eating the flowers can produce a mild sedative effect or even mildly psychoactive experiences. The sedative effects of the plant make it a likely candidate (among many) for the lotus plant eated by the mythical Lotophagi in Homer's Odyssey.

Blue Lotus has a long history of aromatherapy use, and is hailed as a "divine essence" meant to bring heightened awareness and tranquility. It has also been used to produce perfumes since ancient times. When prepared as a tea, the flowers produce a thick golden/clear liquid that has been said to inspire a warm, euphoric glow.
